Yeah, they're on the committee for quite a few shows this season and have gotten their name in the credits. I'm not sure how much input they have, but I do know they were on the production committee for Kemono Friends and got their mascot a cameo appearance in the show. Looking at the trends, they seem to mostly get involved with yuri and cute girls doing cute things shows. Probably because tumblr and SJWeebs like them for the lack of male characters and they've acted as a gateway for luring more of them in.

It's possible that they might have pulled some weight. If the guy has been posting this stuff for years, I refuse to believe that it wasn't known by his coworkers. Yet it didn't become a problem until some western bitch discovered it. Crunchyroll may have said that if they don't cut ties with him, they won't help fund any more of their shows. Or they may have showed them a couple ANN articles, told them that this is making big waves over here and that if they don't fire him and make a statement condemning him, it will jeopardize any chance of their shows getting a western release. All in all, this is bad news and is setting a worrying precedent.

Production committee for each anime are constructed separately, but with so many foreign capital influx to Japanese anime production market in recent years including by Crunchyroll but also by Netflix and the mass of Chinese capitals, it have been reported that they are having a hard time to even maintain a simple majority of Japanese capital in some production committee and overall they're making more shows just to have a place for these foreign capitals to invest in without letting them take over and directly control some of the production committee.

Honestly if you read it they're saying he directed an anime they worked on but he was not employed by their company, and that they don't work with him anymore because the show is done.
They also imply they're not convinced those are his tweets, and the rest is corporate boilerplate for "we're not responsible for staff opinions, just in case." It's worded in a manner that seems like they give a shit but it's really just handwaving. Everyone knows ANN is a shithole where reviews are bought and sold anyway, I don't think they really care if ANN writers are offended.

Hosting the olympics in recent decades tends to be a massive loss financially. Pretty sure places only agree to it at this point because they really want to get in on political posturing on the world stage. In Japan's case they can take the financial hit, but every other aspect of them hosting the olympics also brings nothing but bad things. So I imagine in this case nip apathy about what their politicians do won out and their government went forward with it unopposed by the public so they could "look good" for the world. Would be very surprised if (((outside pressure))) wasn't involved, too.

Saving face is a huge part of Asian culture, and Japan really wants to show off on the world stage come the 2020 Olympics. How they'll go about this is another matter. Tourists generally scrape the surface of Japanese degeneracy anyway, so it largely goes ignored. But their paranoia about it could see things adapted to suit foreigners, at least for the actual year of the Olympics (shit like relocating or temporarily closing up soaplands and other risqué establishments). It'll probably be business as usual after that.
However, they are not going to inact radical new laws to make their industries more pallitable for Westerners right away. Japan does have feminists and LGBT groups, but they generally worry more about issues in society rather than in media. Yes, fun-hating and corrupt ideologies such as the PTA exist, but that's Japan's "muh morals" for you. You’re always going to find some group complaining about something anywhere in the world. Nip domestic groups, industries, and mangaka (notably the women in that circle) have been mocking radicals and soccer moms for decades. And people who respect American media in the first place are a tiny minority; we’re talking like 6% of the population who actually trust them. Any SJW uprising (either for or against) would have to take place in Japan itself because we're irrelevant to the situation at hand.
TL;DR- Japanese society is not Western society. There’s a lot of fearmongering and uncertainty right now, but we’ll have to see how Japan plays things out over the next few years.

I think you have the right idea. During the Beijing Olympics the Chinese government shut down some factories and ordered food stands to not serve dogs so people didn't realize China is an insectoid dystopia full of toxic fumes. As soon as everyone left it was back to business as usual.
I think at the most Akibahara will have to put away some lewd advertising for a bit until all the hysterical cunts go back home, but I don't see any permanent changes. It's all paranoia and speculation. That one artist that freaked out about the Olympics was likely just trying to get a conversation going amongst otaku about why foreigners need to be told to fuck off.
