I don't really remember, but I think I might've seen some 2hu stuff on /tg/ and thought "hey, this looks pretty neat." That, or listening to music somewhere. Touhou Puppet Play were romhacks of the GBA Pokemon games. The Touhou Puppet Dance Performance games were built from the ground up and are the spiritual successors to the rom hacks.
