Not really, though they have similar hero and story elements to superhero tokusatsu. Tokusatsu is live action with special effects such as superhero and kaiju films/drama.

Technically everything in live action with special effects is tokusatsu. But it's just become more of a term associated with Japanese suit acting productions. Also people should go and support the /toku/ board itself as well.

No, but it did inspire a really good bird themed Super Sentai show. I'm actually really surprised they never did a toku Gatchaman show back in the 70s.

HUE here. I used to love toku as a kid, from the times before the internet. The thing is, I almost never see the series I used to watch discussed anywhere. I wonder if they are just too old, or if those were only popular in Brasil.

Especially Cybercop. That shit is nigh unknown. And it had the best toys!

I've only watched Kamen Rider Decade, some of Den-O, and Akibarangers. I really got a kick out of the multi-dimensional/world-traveling gimmick of decade, and Akibarangers was just a blast. What should I watch next?

Gokaiger. Essentially a season of Super Sentai that tributes all the past iterations by putting them all into one universe. Which usually is not how Super Sentai actually is.

I think the BRs got a dubbed Masked Rider (RX or something like that)
