Neither him nor other heroes will win fights against the bosses of each arc (Sea King, Boros, Centipede, etc). Saitama will. That is the joke and the point of the parody of both western and eastern works. In the west we have guys like Superman and Thor who make other heroes unnecessary against the top threat. In battle manga, we have a central protagonist and friends. You can count that MC will win against the boss of each arc. One Piece is a good example.

Although, when it comes to Genos, even if we know that he will lose his fights are some of the best in the manga just for the amount of coolness and effort he puts in each one. I really like his character.

If he is going to be a main character then it would be better if he wasn't one note. I can understand him not beating the main bad but he should be having at least more punchline in his fights or more personal satisfaction upon improving.

I didn't ask about the bosses of each arc. I asked about any fights at all. I totally forgot he won against G4 and that we got to see it. Most of the fights he wins, like against armored gorilla, are offscreen.

Yeah. but it is still the same spiel that he's down because he's not strong enough and he's gonna get stronger. I don't like that it is beating a dead horse but it does emphasise another point that I love about this manga. The main characters are all kinda flawed but find some comraderie or don't lose themselves because they got each other.

I'm hoping that we get more jokes like the animal fortress arc. Not like Sea King and Garou arcs where everyone is having a legit shounen battle against main bad guy and getting blown up until saitama comes in.
