What kind of TOYS did you have as a baby/kid?! What kind of toys do you like now? How come there aren't more toy threads? What sorts of toys make you feel "Little"?

It's always weird for me going around in AB oriented communities because it's like all the primary focus is on diapers and baby clothes… to me that's like the AB equivalent of being excited over SOCKS for Christmas.

I mean I understand the appeal, it can help you feel "Little", but uh… I don't know, I guess I'm weird cause I always feel "Little" and to me diapers and such, that's like what "Bigs" decide to put you in as a means of creating dependancy on them, not what you decide for yourself so much.

For me if I'm faced with the option of either buying diapers or toys… it's toys. There's, there's no hesitation, I want toys!

I'm surprised Gobots haven't made any kind of a comeback given the recent saturation of Transformers stuffs.

Space Warp was one of those "build your own" toys that looked insanely awesome but then the "some assembly required" part wound up bordering on "insane" to the point where even your parents had trouble trying to figure out the instructions.

They had these super awesome electronic water guns that looked like a real gun (except brightly colored) and they were auto-fire, so you could just hold down the trigger and it would continually blast water out. They also had cap guns that were really neat… I don't think they make either any more though. :(

I don't have too many coloring books because people always "borrow" them… and then I never see them again.

At this point I usually just scan them and then print off what I want to color and then that way if someone "borrows" the original it's not as a big a deal.

I tend to favor puzzles more than coloring books, especially super complicated puzzles. To me things that are really challenging, but still toy oriented, make me feel more "Little". Cause like when you're a kid and you try and do something grown up it's always really hard/challenging, so it's sort of like recreating that feeling.

Sticks! At one point when I was a kid I lived in this big house out in the country with my brother and sister, had like 10 acres, about 3/4ths of it wooded and we used to play this "game" called "Plant Wars" where we'd imagine sorta like zombie plants trying to take over the planet and so then we'd make like swords and shit out of sticks to battle the evul plants! :D

And played it like it was a video game, so like you could upgrade your stick sword, or find new stick swords and so forth. Was lots of fun.

We also used to play this other imagination game called "Sarlac Pit", where we'd shove our parents king sized mattress off the edge of the box frame to make a giant slope and then we'd throw all the couch cushions and blankets and pillows we could find into the base and then we'd pretend we like Boba Fett trying to crawl our way out from the Sarlac Pitt while being attack by invisible enemies and such.

Good times! ^__^

Legos are the best toy of course, but we could probably do an entire thread just for Legos. Same with GI Joe, Barbie, Ghostbusters and He-Man… those franchises have so many toys each one could probably fill up its own toy store.

Tubtown was the best bathtoy when I was a kid! :D

Battle Beasts were sorta like the precursor to Pokemon.

They also used to make these AWESOME bed tents, where the bottom of the tent was like a fitted bed sheet, so it actually fit perfectly onto the bed, unlike the ones they made in the 90s and beyond where they used those easily breakable plastic stick bits with an even flimsier top cover that never completely fit. Only upside was you could get more creative with the shape of the tent with the plastic stick bits and then use like regular blankets over the top.

Hit Stix were one of the very first motion activated toys… they didn't really work so well though.

Micro Machines were also real neat, but I remember I was more into collecting them than playing with them. Like with the "Super City" playset and such, like I'd spend a good hour putting it all together and then setting up the vehicles… and then that'd be it, it was mostly just for show.

I remember there was big competition between Matchbox toy cars and Hot Wheels, like some kids I knew would ~only~ get one or the other, where as I tended to just get whatever looked the coolest.

There were a lot of different gimmicks too, like the color changing ones. The floppy plastic race track setups were a lot of fun.

They also used to make these Pick-Up & Peek Puzzles, where it was like a reverse puzzle.

They had this neat electronic toy too back in the 80s, can't remember what it was called, but it was sort of like a See And Say, except it was a flat computer style setup and you would load these sorta Where's Waldo type plastic sheets into the top and then there was a bulky cartidge bit that loaded into the side for each sheet and then it was like a touch screen See And Say. Pretty innovative for its time.

The velcro kid watches they made in the 80s were also freakin awesome, I remember feeling ~so~ cool wearing one! :D

I'm surprised Nintendo didn't try suing them. I remember everybody under the sun was trying to sue over that franchise when it came out, hence the reason they had to change the name of the cartoon to "The Real" Ghostbusters.

Ghostbusters was one of those toys where… it only went downhill. Like the original action figures, that actually looked like the movie characters, were only available for like a year… and then suddenly they started in with the gimmick versions and it just never fucking stopped. Like Malibu Action Surprise Ghostbusters!

I remember when I was kid being so annoyed that they never brought back the originals… I mean, EVER! They're probably one of the rarest toys in existence at this point.

There have actually been a number of times where "adult sized" toys have been made, probably the most popular of which is the giant stuffed bear that Costco sells, which is so massive you could probably use it as a bed. I might start another thread for giant sized stuff.

In addition to Bristle Blocks, Legos, alphabet blocks and Construx there was also Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs and a few others I believe.

When I was a kid we had like… different classifications of toys. Like we had "bath toys", "grandma's house toys", "garage toys" and so forth. Usually the old timey type stuff, like Tinker Toys and what not fell under "grandma's house toys" and then toys that we kind of grew out of, or toys that were a bit broken wound up becoming "garage toys", mostly for playing with outside in the elments.

You're in the "diaper physics" thread talking about making another thread too. Don't dude. I can tell you're new by the fact you use a name at all (let alone such an edgy one). It's a slow board, spamming obscure threads is counter productive. It's better for people to congregate and talk more in a handful of threads. Otherwise the catalog is just full of threads with less than 10 replies that get ignored after a day or 2

Ooh, that's a really good idea! That would work good with other things too, like eating and such.

Wouldn't work so good if you're ambidextrous, but if you're not that's a great way to naturally regress yourself without any effort at all.

Well you could always just pass yourself off as a collector of rare/old toys. Sort of like hiding in plain site. Same thing with diapers and baby clothes type stuff, provided you don't have a ~whole~ lot of them you could stick them into a box marked "Halloween" and then people would just think it's a costume.

On an unrelated note, member when they made toy guns that looked like real guns?

Here's some screen caps from the Entertech catalog from 1987.

Let's do some newer toys now!

The first is a plushie egg… that's also a RATTLE! How awesome is that?

Also plushie piggie bank!

And plushie portable DVD players!

Last but not least… puffy stickers!

Stickers aren't so popular these days, but man, back in the 80s stickers were the "in thing".. right up there with "Charms", "Warm Fuzzies", "Slap Bracelets", etc, etc.

They used to make these special "sticker books" to create your collection. Some of them had special laminate backing so you could actually peel the stickers off and move them around if you wanted (had to be pretty careful though).

There were puffy stickers, scratch and sniff stickers, glow in the dark stickers, sparkly/shiny stickers, etc, etc.
