As long as you have a reputable builder make it, $1000 burgerbucks for a crib is a very good deal. Furniture-grade lumber is very expensive.

Beware that there are a shitload of "crib builders" out there that know absolutely dick-all about woodworking. If you find someone offering to make you a crib for less than $800, be ready to for disappointment.

I'll be building a crib when i get my own place. The tooling with this can get as complex as you want it to be, like any DIY project. But it's basically just a box, and and how ornate you want it is up to you. Then you have the rail mechanism which is the real obstacle. Regardless of how you build it, a whole side of the crib is going to be heavy and any mechanism is going to have trouble handling that unless you install some serious custom hardware. I don't know how other people pull that off in a lasting way. I've seen them done with more of a door-type thing instead and if you want high bars like i do, then that's probably a more realistic and easier solution if you're living without a carer. The problem with a lowered side is that the crib would need to have the clearance from the floor to even do that, and then if your ceiling is sort i think it would kinda kill the illusion a bit.

Construction is softer which will be prone to more dents, but the only major difference is that it will take more work to get it suitable for furniture, unless you like getting splinters every morning. Also make sure your wood is kiln dried it should have a kd stamp on it or something.

If you really want to separate your porn from the rest of your system, using a virtual machine is the easiest way to not mess up as a newbie.

Regardless of that, I recommend putting the virtual machine hard drive file of your porn virtual machine into an extra Veracrypt container so it will be inaccessible even in the event that someone uses your computer while it is running. It's hard to decline PC use to friends without being suspicious. With the additional encryption, you can fearlessly allow other people to use your computer for a short time.

Portions of ram will be written to hdd only if swap is enabled and theres not enough ram for some process. And swap (file) should be anyways always permissioned so that only root can read it. Or if your swap is on different partition nobody execpt root cant mount it…

tldr: you don't need to care about swap if you are not doing illegal things except you are super paranoid and have weird nerd friends who have physical access for many hours to boot your computer to external os and hax it LOL
