Hello! How you all doing? As for me, I just wanted to share a recently-uploaded music video, the most "ye olde Englishe" one outside a Norwegian black metal music video. And despite being an idol group – and like most, they make mostly addictively cutesy tunes – it's surprisingly good.

You can also look at it as being kind to nature. We traverse the wilderness and see nature in all her glory. Also if you are kind to yourself all you have to do is be content with living and bringing joy to others. That's what I see as kindness to ones self though I do see why some may have differing views to myself.

Towards your second part:

It depends on different factors.

What do you want to do with the board? Just a small plattform for a few friends -> spare the hassle and use a premade one. You want to build something more persistent or bigger? -> Building a board yourself could become a fun adventure.

How much experience do you have in webdev and programming in general? There is that "I have learned some Scratch and now i want to build an MMORPG / OS all myself" Stereotype for a reason. I don't want to disencourage you, just say that building a board is not a trivial and it could be wiser to start with smaller steps.

If you understand the complexity of what you want to build, do you have the ressources (e.g. time and motivation) to do that?

There are things to consider, but i hope these questions will help you a bit. Sounds like you have some front-end skills.

In that case I'd advice you the following:

Start with a premade Software. Just set it up, and start keep it running.

Start to make a List of Features you'd like to add, building a rudimentary Roadmap out of it. Start with simple tasks (if you are not sure about the complexity, there are Boards and IRC Channels filled with people to ask), always try to learn a new skill by implementing that feature, but don't do more than one skills, else you become easily overwhelmed.

After a while you should become fluent enough in the crafting of Web- / Backend- Development so you might be able to improve core functions of the software, and maybe even contribute to the project.

Don't make your own chan; not only are there more than enough with like 99.99% dead (yours WILL be among them) image boards are a dying medium.

Some generic advice

Savings accounts are really bad investments and they barely outpace inflation. You'll earn much more if you let a mutual fund invest your money. At the very least, invest in US treasury bonds.

You will never earn money by investing in precious metals, only slowly lose it. It's hedge against what you think will be a catastrophic market crash, not an income generating investment.

Once people find out you're rich (and it's only a matter of time, it's difficult to hide wealth even if you don't flaunt it) thousands of people will try to contact you begging you to invest in their charity or to pay for their sick family member's life-saving operation. Most of these will be scams.

What would I do?

I'd pay off my parent's house and give them a big annuity to do whatever they'd like. Same for my grandparents and cousins.

Hire a construction company to custom build me a nice home near the ocean. Buy up plots of land surrounding the home.

I collect firearms so I'd buy stuff I currently can't afford. I'd build my own range on the aforementioned land.

I practice archery as well so I'd dedicate more time into that.

I would support amateur artists I like by buying prints and paintings off them and commissioning artwork.

I think I would learn how to fly, I've always liked the idea of being an amateur pilot.

I'd give some to people who I owe for being there for me in the past. I'd get consultation on how best to do it. Most likely I'd set up trust funds for us. The trust for myself would be in case some clever person finds a way to steal my money. I'd buy some precious metals and land in case of a currency crisis.

I've lost so much faith in humanity I'd be hesitant to spend more on anything except myself, but the trust fund would be more than I'd need and there must be things I could find. Society likes to pretend certain kinds of people cannot be harmed or need help and it would be nice to do something for them, but likely the government and others would get in the way.
