"I wish I was a kid again…"
So I can show you boomers how much childhood sucks.
For reals though, nothing wrong with remembering the good times of your youth, but if you waste most of your mindspace on comparing your childhood deacde to current-year youth, it's time to re-evalute your worldview.
"Come on now zoomer, if you think life sucks, wait until the bills come."
The only reason why life is assumed to be great during youth is because you're legally banned from having a job, adults quickly block you from or shush you for discussing violence, sex, religious beliefs, you're forced to go only to school and come right back home, you're not even allowed to hop over to the next town.
It's posh incarceration.
Now if you wanna go back to that because you're too weak to handle anymore bullshit from the adult life, be my guest. I prefer my crappy mediocre adult life over my childhood any fucking day.
If anything, I imagine my ideal childhood being in a shonen-ai reality.
Also, why do adults expect children to be all the same? Adults yearn to be themselves even if it means being hated because "authenticity." Yet they expect youngsters to be dumb, happy-go-lucky optimists who wanna "change the world" because adults are too jaded or scared to do it themselves, but will steal the credit if their kids succeed.
Anytime a child or teen shows cynicism or disbelief they're called "selfish" or "heartless", even though adults in general are natural recluses.
