In the original series the tobacco industry did every thing they could in order to get high tech cigarettes on the bridge. Rodenberry managed to fight them off. Episode 2 introduces the vape and episode 3 introduces a cigar actor. I wonder where they got him. When it was finally proved tobacco causes cancer the more ethical people in the industry quit. The Jews quickly moved in and now they control most of the industry. They want you addicted to as many chemicals as possible to control you including such chemicals as insulin. The reason we have cell phones and talking computers is people watched Star Trek and said I'm going to make that happen. No new technology will be created from Picard. Which means that every plot point is drawn out by two or three times it's useful duration.

Just started the first episode, Im 20 minutes in and I hate it already. The same reasons I hated Discovery, the writers refuse to let today's issues die and insist on throwing them hundreds of years into the future. Its not anything new or innovative its just parallels with a Star Trek veneer.

It's surprisingly competent when compared to STD, but it's still pretty fucking bad. It has the distinct feeling of something written by a teenager. Not to appeal to teenagers, written by one. Everything is very, very basic, like if a talented 15 year old wrote a script, and it was alright, it was structurally sound, most of the major pieces were kind of there, but it was lacking a certain something that comes with experience and maturity.

If I were to rank them I'd put it quite far ahead actually.

If you have watched Babylon 5 then DS9 appears as the shitty off-brand version and it is literally a ripoff of that series. I also didn't like the lead and his speech impediment nor most of the plots.
It's funny, but the stand-in for the natsoc (cardassia) and the jews (ferengi) were the most enjoyable parts of it.

They are more like gypsies or whatever, the ferengi are pure jews. As for B5 I do really recommend giving it a go, the episodes and seasons on their own won't be mindblowing, but the way things interlock is great and by season 3 and 4 you'll really appreciate everything that went into the show. Unlike DS9 there's plenty of smaller things that snowball into big things and the series is written as a whole.
I wish I could watch it all for the first time again, it's great.
