This is original novel of " Who Framed Roger Rabbit."
and oh my god it is far better than the disney version
"Eddie Valiant is a hardboiled private eye, and Roger Rabbit is a second banana comic strip character. The rabbit hires Valiant to find out why his employers, the DeGreasy Brothers (Rocco and Dominic), who are owners of a cartoon syndicate, have reneged on a promise to give Roger his own strip and potentially sell his contract to a mystery buyer. Evidence shows that there was no mystery buyer and the reason Roger Rabbit remained in a secondary role was because of his lack of talent. Soon after, Roger is mysteriously murdered in his home. His speech balloon, found on the crime scene, indicates his murder was a way of "censoring" the star, who apparently had just heard someone explain the source of his success. Valiant's search for the killer takes him to a variety of suspects which includes: Roger's widow Jessica Rabbit; Roger's former co-star Baby Herman and Roger's photographer Carol Masters. Valiant then meets a doppelgänger of Roger's and promises to solve the mystery of his death. At the same time, Roger's former boss Rocco DeGreasy is also murdered and witnesses point out Roger as the killer, as he was allegedly seen fleeing the scene of the crime"
why movies in 80s-90s must fix the original book and make it softer for the mass people ?

I never even liked the movie. The whole thing felt like a gimmick movie rather than something good in its own right.

Eddie Murphy says he feels stupid for turning down role in ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’
In my opinion . this movie was good with white people as Roger partner . I am not racist or anything you know but Bob Hoskins make the whole movie look more serious with mafia theme

Murphy wouldn't have worked as Eddie Valiant because Murphy was known as a funny man and the character of Valiant is supposed to played straight while Roger plays the comedy relief.

Agree
I guess they change theme of the whole story after Murphy say no
anyway this is Richard Williams. creator of Roger Rabbit in the film.
Why his face look like he's serious guy all the time ?. it's kinda contrast with his cartoon drawing. I guess it's nothing wrong with this in the west ? because you have freedom to make any face you want as long as you make a great job .

Rabbit is a fertility cult sex symbol. Making it for kids while the rabbit's girlfriend is a literal sex symbol.
Movie has the Nigger word, a boner joke, a pussy joke, a guy getting ran over by a steam roller and melted into the floor.
Holy fuck this was disturbing as a kid.
