Med School Caught Rejecting White And Asian Applicants With Better Scores Than Minorities It Accepts

Nearly two years after the Supreme Court overturned affirmative action, an Illinois medical school admits black and Hispanic students with lower average MCAT scores and GPAs than the average scores of white and Asian students it rejects, according to data shared with The Daily Wire.

An analysis of the academic scores of students admitted into Southern Illinois School of Medicine from 2019-2024 reveals that blacks and Hispanics are admitted to the school with much lower scores than whites and Asians, figures obtained by Do No Harm show. These apparently different academic standards continue despite the Supreme Court’s June 2023 decision to strike down affirmative action, leading to concern that the university is watering down the importance of academics in admissions.

This revelation comes as school leadership promises to “resist” and “fight back” against executive actions from the Trump administration cracking down on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. A spokeswoman for the school told The Daily Wire that it was “committed to following the law and complying with the decisions of the Supreme Court.”

Comparing average GPAs and MCAT scores, Do No Harm found that whites and Asians generally need to score significantly higher than blacks and Hispanics to be admitted into the school. The MCAT is the standardized test that all prospective doctors must take to be admitted into medical school.

“In 2024, the average MCAT score of accepted Asians and whites (combined) was more than 4 points higher than that of accepted blacks and Hispanics (combined) — equivalent to a gap of about 14 percentile points. On GPA, accepted Asians and whites on average had 0.36 higher scores than accepted Blacks and Hispanics,” Do No Harm wrote in a summary of its analysis of the data.

According to data from 2024, the average GPA score of students accepted into the Southern Illinois School of Medicine, broken down by race, was: Hispanic (3.45), black (3.50), white (3.85), and Asian (3.89). For the MCAT (best score being 528), the average scores were as follows: Hispanic (503.5 – 58th percentile), black (505.7 – 65th percentile), white (509 – 75th percentile), and Asian (512.8 – 85th percentile).

“When comparing to the average scores of all accepted applicants, whites/Asians scored slightly above average while blacks/Hispanics scored significantly below average,” Do No Harm noted in its report.

The 2024 data also reveal that whites and Asians who were rejected had average higher MCAT scores and GPAs than blacks and Hispanics who were accepted. The average MCAT score for whites/Asians rejected was 505.7, compared to the 505.2 of blacks/Hispanics accepted. For GPA, the average for white/Asians rejected was 3.66 compared to the 3.50 of blacks/Hispanics accepted.

The data also show that 21 Asians with perfect GPAs were rejected in 2024.

“Of the 24 black or Hispanic applicants admitted in 2024, 17 had MCAT scores lower than the average white or Asian rejected applicant; 13 had GPAs lower than the average white or Asian rejected applicant,” Do No Harm noted. “In 2024, no Asian admitted student had an MCAT score below 503. Meanwhile, half of black admitted students (9 of 18) had an MCAT score below 503.”

These trends hold for every year from 2020 to 2024, with average rejection scores for whites/Asians being higher than average accepted scores for blacks/Hispanics, as Do No Harm noted that 2024 was “not an outlier.”

“Blacks and Hispanics were admitted with lower MCAT and GPA scores than whites and Asians in each of the past five years at the school,” Do No Harm reported. “A five-year average of SIUSOM’s accepted applicants shows that there was a difference of 0.34 GPA points between the two racial groups.”

The same could be found when comparing MCAT scores.

The Looming GOP Food Fight Over Pesticides

Some in the Republican Party say they’re worried about farmers in their districts who rely on pesticides. And there are apparent concerns within the White House that abrupt regulatory action could trigger supply chain issues.

But at the same time, Republicans are bought in on Making America Healthy Again, and the MAHA movement wants pesticides banned in other countries to be similarly banned here. Or, at the least, they want their constituents to be able to sue makers of popular weed killers like Roundup, which has been linked to cancer.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the former Democrat presidential candidate who’s become a superstar with President Donald Trump’s most fervent supporters, seems to have figured out how to toe the line between the two camps.

On Thursday, RFK released the highly anticipated MAHA Commission report, which detailed a variety of potential causes of the childhood chronic illness epidemic. Though the report takes on pesticides — its authors order a study on the chemicals by next year — there’s a clear effort by RFK and his top allies to quell fears of quick regulatory action.

“American farmers rely on these products, and actions that further regulate or restrict crop protection tools beyond risk-based and scientific processes set forth by Congress must involve thoughtful consideration of what is necessary for adequate protection, alternatives, and cost of production,” the report states.

This effort has been in the works since before the report. Top RFK advisor Calley Means signaled last week that while the report will state the “truth” about pesticides, HHS has no desire for “nanny state” regulatory measures on pesticides, especially since abrupt action could spell a “disaster.”

“This report is on the truth, it’s on the dynamics. It’s a fact that we ingest 25% of the world’s pesticides in the United States, and many of our leading pesticides, in other countries across the world, have chosen to phase them out or ban them, calling them carcinogenic and disruptive to kids. Those are the facts. Those are easily Google-able. The United States government has never recognized those facts,” Means said. “When you get to policy, and I want to make this clear: I don’t think anyone in the Trump administration, I don’t think it’s the right policy, to say that insinuates that we need to have some sort of European anti-growth regulatory nanny state.”

“The policy solutions from this are not obvious,” he continued. “Pesticides are deeply ingrained into the U.S. agricultural system and it would be a disaster to phase them out tomorrow. Nobody is suggesting that.”

Means also noted that throughout the 2024 campaign, Trump said he wants “the truth” on pesticides, seeming to downplay pushback from the White House.

ADL Demands Mass Censorship, Police Crackdown on Anti-Israel Protests in Wake of DC Shooting

The Anti-Defamation League responded to the shooting of two Israeli embassy aides in DC by demanding mass censorship, deplatforming, the repeal of Section 230 and a police crackdown on anti-Israel protests.

ADL's Midwest Regional Director David Goldenberg took part in a press conference with other Jewish leaders in Chicago on Friday where he raged at tech platforms for loosening up their censorship regimes.

1.2b social media users' data stolen in historic breach: Check your bank account NOW

Over a billion Facebook users have had their private account information stolen in one of the largest data breaches in social media history.

A cybercriminal using the alias ByteBreaker claims to have scraped 1.2 billion Facebook records and is now selling the data on the dark web.

Scraping, or web scraping, involves using automated tools to collect large amounts of data from websites, similar to copying and pasting information at scale.

Cybersecurity researchers at Cybernews revealed that the stolen data includes names, user IDs, email addresses, phone numbers, birthdates, gender information, and location data such as city, state, and country.

Investigators say ByteBreaker exploited a flaw in a specific Facebook tool designed to let apps or programs access user data.

If verified, ByteBreaker’s trove would represent the largest single data-scraping incident from a social media platform to date.

Officials are urging all Facebook users to change their passwords, freeze their credit, and activate fraud alerts on their bank accounts.

They warn that the dataset scraped by ByteBreaker contains enough information for cybercriminals to open credit cards in victims’ names or access their financial accounts.

ByteBreaker shared a sample of 100,000 user records on the dark web to prove they have the data.

However, both Facebook and cybersecurity experts are questioning if the cyber thief actually has what they claim.

A spokesperson from Meta told Daily Mail that the stolen information ByteBreaker allegedly has is actually from a 2021 Facebook breach involving more than 500 million users.

'This is from 2021, so it's not a new claim. We disclosed this years ago and have taken steps to prevent similar incidents from happening,' Meta said in a statement Thursday.

According to researchers from Hackread, some of the data in the 100,000 user sample ByteBreaker posted on the dark web was from that 2021 breach, so it's possible the cybercriminal is trying to pass off old data as new.

Cyber experts added ByteBreaker claimed in their dark web ad that the 1.2 billion accounts were stored in '200 million rows.'

In databases, however, each 'row' represents one user's complete info (name, email, etc.).

So, 1.2 billion records should need 1.2 billion rows, not 200 million, adding even more skepticism to the hacker's story.
