BOSTON, MA – The 2025 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award® will be presented to Vice President Michael R. Pence for putting his life and career on the line to ensure the constitutional transfer of presidential power on January 6, 2021. The John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award is presented annually by the JFK Library Foundation to public servants for making a courageous decision of conscience without regard for the personal or professional consequences. Caroline Kennedy and Jack Schlossberg will present the award at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum on May 4, 2025 in Boston, MA.

Despite extraordinary pressure to single-handedly overturn the results of the 2020 election, Vice President Mike Pence stood firm in his commitment to democracy and ensured the constitutionally mandated transfer of power. On January 6, 2021, as the presidential election certification process unfolded, a violent mob determined to halt the certification stormed the U.S. Capitol and openly threatened Pence. While the Secret Service urged him to evacuate, Pence chose to remain at the Capitol, coordinating with military and Congressional leaders during the attack. Once the Capitol was cleared, Pence resumed the certification process, confirming the election results and demonstrating his resolve to uphold his constitutional duty.

Report: Iran-Backed Militias in Iraq Open to Disarming to Avoid Trump Airstrikes 1/2

The leaders of some of the most powerful Iran-backed terror groups in Iraq, including the notorious Kata’ib Hezbollah (KH),are considering disarming, Reuters reported on Monday, in response to threats of airstrikes from President Donald Trump.

Reuters spoke anonymous to “six local commanders” of mostly Shiite terrorist militias in Iraq, which it identified as KH, Nujabaa, Kataib Sayyed al-Shuhada and Ansarullah al-Awfiyaa. It described the militias as members of the amorphous “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” group, which emerged in response to the Hamas invasion of Israel on October 7, 2023, in solidarity with the fellow Iran-backed terrorist organization.

The “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” conducted several attacks targeting American basesin Iraq in 2024 in support of Hamas, KH, which is believed to have been the most powerful entity in that coalition, initially announced its intent to launch a war against American forces in the region, but ultimatelybacked out in late January 2024, stating they did not wish to “embarrass” the Iraqi government.

These groups are also part of the more formal coalition known as the Popular Mobilization Forces(PMF), which helped the Iraqi military fight the Sunni jihadists of the Islamic State and were formally integrated into the Iraqi armed forces despite their status as anti-American terrorist organizations.

The commanders consulted for the Reuters article indicated that the threat of the Trump administration killing the militias’leaders in airstrikes or other military operations informed their decision to consider fully dismantling. An Iraqi politician identified as Izzat al-Shahbndar corroborated the report, stating that talks between Baghdad and the jihadist militias about disarming ==and integrating into the formal Iraqi military were “very advanced.”

Iran is also reportedly involved in the process of evolving these militias into a new, presumably more legitimate form. The head of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Esmail Qaani, reportedly visited Iraq in March urging PMF terrorists to retain “discipline” and prevent any unwanted military exchanges with America. The Quds Force is Iran’s external terrorism unit, responsible for coordinating with the country’s many jihadist proxies around the world and reinforcing Tehran’s interests and goals regarding terrorist attacks on foreign enemies.

President Trump killed Qaani’s predecessor, Qassem Soleimani, in January 2020 in an airstrike in Baghdad, where he was meeting with the founder and leader of KH, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis. The airstrike also eliminated Muhandis, leaving the jihadists leaderless.

The possibility of similar airstrikes on PMF and “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” leaders now that Trump has returned to the White Housefeatured prominently in the decision by the militias to seek disarmament, Reuters indicated.

“Trump is ready to take the war with us to worse levels, we know that, and we want to avoid such a bad scenario,” an anonymous KH commander told the outlet.

“The move to defuse tensions follows repeated warnings issued privately by U.S. officials to the Iraqi governmentsince Trump took power in January, according to the sources who include six local commanders of four major militias,” Reuters reported. “The officialstold Baghdad that unless it acted to disband the militias operating on its soil, America could target the groups with airstrikes, the people added.”

Shahbndar, the Iraqi politician, credited the jihadist groups with “not acting stubbornly” and seeking to coexist with the Iraqi government, which would in theory require them to accept Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani as their commander in chief. He suggested that their future could include being accepted as formal political parties, giving them some say in the workings of the Iraqi government, or arms of the Iraqi military. The framework is similar to negotiations occurring in nearby Syria, where the jihadist terror organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) ousted longtime dictator Bashar Assad in December. In March, the head of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a Kurdish-led pro-U.S. militia, accepted becoming part of the new Syria’s military, meaning it would accept the head of HTS, now-President Ahmed al-Sharaa, as its commander-in-chief.

Reuters reported that, in addition to verbal assurances from the PMF commanders thatthey were working towards dismantling the current state of their operations, they have begun limiting their public presence in Iraq.

“Some groups have already largely evacuated their headquartersand reduced their presences in major cities including Mosul and Anbar since mid-January for fear of being hit by air attacks, according to officials and commanders,” the outlet reported.

The Iranian government, apparently concerned of an American attack on its proxies, appears to have given its blessing for the reconfiguration. The regional outlet Shafaq News reported in late March that, following a visit by Qaani to Baghdad in which he urged the militias not to “escalate” tensions, the militias agreed to accept the Iraqi government’s authority.

“Under the arrangement,all PMF brigades and units, including the formerly independent factions,=will operate under the direct command of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani as commander-in-chiefof the armed forces,” Shafaq reported, citing anonymous sources.

Sudani has for months urged the United States to vacate his country, insisting that the fall of the Islamic State “caliphate” and reduced presence of Sunni terrorists allow for this,but omitting mention of the Shiite terrorists.

“Today, Iraq in 2024 is not the same as Iraq of 2014,” Sudani insisted in September. “We have defeated Daesh [ISIS] with our sacrifices and the Iraqi people’s position from all its components and factions and with the support of the international community and friends.”

“We found that the justifications have ended. There is no longer a need for a coalition of 86 countries. We moved from a period of wars to a period of stability.Daesh doesn’t pose a threat to the state,” he told Bloomberg News.

The American Jacobin: How Some on the Left have Found Release in an Age of Rage

Below is my column in the Hill on the rising political violence on the left. Many have found an irresistible release from both reason and responsibility in rage.A new study found more people embracing political violence. Joel Finkelstein, the lead author of the report, stated that “what was formerly taboo culturally has become acceptable… We are seeing a clear shift – glorification, increased attempts and changing norms –all converging into what we define as ‘assassination culture.’” Roughly 40 percent reportedly found it somewhat justifiable to burn a Tesla or even to kill Donald Trump.

Here is the column:

“We should replace our piece of crap Constitution.”

Those words fromauthor Elie Mystal, a regular commentator on MSNBC, are hardly surprising from someone who previously called the Constitution “trash” and urged not just the abolition of the U.S. Senate but also of “all voter registration laws.”

But Mystal’sradical rhetoric is becoming mainstream on the left, as shown by his best-selling books and popular media appearances.

There is a counter-constitutional movement building in law schoolsand across the country. And although Mystal has not advocated violence, some on the left are turning to political violence and criminal acts.It is part of the “righteous rage” that manyof them see as absolving them from the basic demands not only of civility but of legality.

They are part of a rising class of American Jacobins — bourgeois revolutionariesincreasingly prepared to trash everything, from cars to the Constitution.

The Jacobins were a radical group in France that propelled that country into theworst excesses of the French Revolution. They were largely affluent citizens, including journalists, professors, lawyers, and otherswho shredded existing laws and destroyed property. It would ultimately lead not only to the blood-soaked “Reign of Terror” but also to thedemise of the Jacobins themselves as more radical groups turned against them.

Of course, it is not revolution on the minds of most of these individuals.It is rage.

Rage is the ultimate drug. It offers a release from longstanding social norms — a license to do those things long repressed by individuals who viewed themselves as decent, law-abiding citizens.

Across the country,liberals are destroying Tesla cars, torching dealerships and charging stations, and even allegedly hitting political dissenters with their cars.

Last week,affluent liberal shoppers admitted that they are shoplifting from Whole Foods to strike back at Jeff Bezosfor working with the Trump administration and moving the Washington Post back to the political center.They are also enraged at Mark Zuckerberg for restoring free speech protections at Meta.

One “20-something communications professional” in Washington explained “If a billionaire can steal from me, I can scrape a little off the top, too.” These affluent shoplifters portrayed themselves as Robin Hoods.

Of course, that is assuming Robin Hood was stealing organic fruit from the rich and giving it to himself.

On college campuses, affluent students and even professors are engaging in political violence.

Just this week, University of Wisconsin Professor José Felipe Alvergue, head of the English Department, turned over the tableof College Republicans supporting a conservative for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. He reportedly declared, “The time for this is over!”

Likewise, a mob this week attacked a conservative display and tent on the campus of the University of California-Davis as campus police passively watched. The Antifa protesters, carrying a large banner with theslogan “ACAB” or “all cops are bastards,” trashed the tent and carried it off.

Meet The Government Consultants Raking In Millions To Spread Climate Doom

The government is outsourcing the 'crown jewel' of climate change research to liberal climate consultants.

More than three decades ago, Congress launched an initiative called the U.S. Global Change Research Program. Today, it spends billions of dollars a year empowering liberal climate scientists to spread climate change doom.

The government group says its role is to provide the “scientific foundation to support informed decision-making across the United States” on climate change. It’s done so by producing five National Climate Assessment reports, which are considered the “crown jewel” of climate research.

Despite taking funding from at least ten separate government agencies, producing the report seems to be the group’s sole function. The most recent iteration — published in 2023 and still prominently showcased on its government website — warns that “severe climate risks to the United States will continue to grow.” The next report is due out in the next couple of years, according to E&E News.

The National Climate Assessment is not simply an intellectual exercise, but rather one that carries real policy might. Congress and agencies use it to justify regulations and funding decisions, and states and cities across the country lean on it as the non-partisan scientific foundation for their own climate action plans. In summary, it is the scientific bedrock for directing policy at all levels of government towards liberal climate change goals.

While the U.S. Global Change Research Program states on its website that it has a budget of $4.95 billion in 2025, it only lists two full-time employees. So, who’s getting paid to put the massive and consequential report together?

Sources familiar with past iterations of the National Climate Assessment say the work is largely outsourced to a group called ICF, a massive government contractor that has an active contract to work on the report.

And ICF is an incredibly partisan firm. Its website boasts about its “corporate citizenship,” “culture and belonging,” and “environmental justice.” Several blogs are posted on its site about how to infuse “equity” into “climate discussions,” support EV mandates, and advance “environmental justice.” Perhaps most telling, nearly all of the officials its website lists as being part of the ICF Climate Team are Democrat donors, giving to candidates including Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The Daily Wire was unable to spot any contributions to Republicans.

“The public deserves an honest assessment from the government on the state of climate science,” Keene said. “That requires an objective, nonpartisan author who does not have financial interests in the outcome. ICF appears to be none of these things.”

“There can be no proper assessment with scientific integrity when a clearly partisan and financially conflicted activist organization is holding the pen,” he said.

Antifa is a violent and vehemently anti-free speech group that thrives on U.S. college campuses. In his book “Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook,” Mark Bray explains that“most Americans in Antifa have been anarchists or antiauthoritarian communists. … From that standpoint, ‘free speech’ as such is merely a bourgeois fantasy unworthy of consideration.”

Of course, many of the American Jacobins are themselves bourgeois or even affluent figures. Andthey are finding a host of enablers telling them that the Constitution itself is a threatand that the legal system has been corrupted by oligarchs, white supremacists, or reactionaries.

This includes leading academics and commentatorswho are denouncing the Constitution and core American values. Erwin Chemerinsky,dean of the UC Berkeley Law School, is the author of “No Democracy Lasts Forever: How the Constitution Threatens the United States.”

In a New York Times op-ed,“The Constitution Is Broken and Should Not Be Reclaimed,” law professors Ryan D. Doerfler of Harvard and Samuel Moyn of Yale called for the nation to “reclaim America from constitutionalism.”

CommentatorJennifer Szalai has scoffed at what she called “Constitution worship.” “Americans have long assumed that the Constitution could save us,” she wrote. “A growing chorus now wonders whether we need to be saved from it.”

As intellectuals knock down our laws and Constitution,radicals are pouring into the breach. Political violence and rage rhetoric are becoming more common. Some liberals embraced groups like Antifa, while others shrugged off property damage and violent threats against political opponents.It is the very type of incitement or rage rhetoric that Democrats once accused Trump of fostering in groups like the Proud Boys.

Members of Congress such as Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) have called for Tesla CEO Elon Musk to be “taken down” and said that Democrats have to be “OK with punching.”

Some take such words as a justification to violently attack a system supposedly advancing the white supremacy or fascism. Fortunately, such violence has been confined so far to a minority of radicalized individuals,but there is an undeniable increase in such violent, threatening speech and in actual violence.

The one thing theAmerican Jacobins will not admit is that they like the rage and the release that it brings them. From shoplifting to arson to attempted assassination, the rejection of our legal system brings them freedom to act outside of morality and to take whatever they want.

Democratic leaders see these “protests” as needed popularism to combat Trump — to make followers “strike ready” and “to stand up and fight back.”

For a politician, a mob can become irresistible if you can steer it against your opponents.The problem is controlling the mobonce it has broken free of the bounds of legal and personal accountability.

Potential NASA Earth science cuts highlight budget uncertainty

Some NASA Earth science missions have been told to prepare termination plans given the potential for major budget cuts in the agency’s overall science activities.

Rep. George Whitesides (D-Calif.), vice ranking member of the House Science Committee, said at a congressional roundtable here April 6 during the 40th Space Symposium that he had recently learned that both Earth science missions in formulation and those in extended operations after their prime missions had been asked to prepare termination plans starting for fiscal year 2026.

“To be clear, this is not yet agency direction, but the fact that we are preparing these scenarios is extremely concerning, and I’m going to be working very hard to make sure that we protect our Earth science missions,” he said.

He said after the panel that he did not know if missions in other divisions of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate, such as astrophysics, heliophysics and planetary science, had received similar instructions.

Even if it limited to Earth science, he said, the fact that those missions had been advised to prepare termination plans “scares the heck out of me.”

The comments fueled widespread speculation that the White House may seek a major cut in NASA’s science budget in its fiscal year 2026 budget proposal, due later this spring. Some reports have suggested cuts as large as 50% in NASA’s $7.3 billion science budget.

At an April 1 hearing of the House Science Committee’s space subcommittee on NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services program, Whitesides asked Nicky Fox, NASA associate administrator for science, if the agency was making preparations for a 50% cut.

She responded that NASA had not seen the administration’s 2026 budget request, “so we have not run any scenarios since we don’t know what is in there.”

Asked what the impact of that rumors 50% cut would be, she said it would depend on the specifics of the proposal. “But, a 50% cut is going to result in some pretty drastic decisions.”

The chairman of the House Science Committee, Rep. Brian Babin (R-Texas), was also at the congressional roundtable and said afterwards he was taking a wait-and-see approach to any science cuts.

“I’m not really going to lose sleep on that now until we get some briefings on what is going on,” he said.

“Peak uncertainty”

At an April 3 committee meeting during the National Academies’ Space Science Week, Karen St. Germain, director of NASA’s Earth science division, deferred questions on the budget.

“I don’t have budget insights and I don’t really have insights to share with regards to the executive order on agency reorganization,” she said. “That’s happening above my pay grade.”

Other NASA officials at Space Science Week said they knew little, if anything, about the upcoming budget and related issues.

“I truly do believe we are at peak uncertainty right now,” said Shawn Domagal-Goldman, acting director of NASA’s astrophysics division, during another committee meeting April 3.

That uncertainty includes the budget and potential agency restructuring as well as when the White House’s nominee for NASA administrator, Jared Isaacman, will be confirmed.

LeoLabs, a California-based company specializing in space object tracking, introduced a mobile surveillance radar system aimed at military customers hoping for enhanced monitoring of low Earth orbit (LEO), particularly as the Pentagon increases scrutiny of China’s space activities.

The new system unveiled April 7, dubbed “Scout,” is a portable version of the company’s established fixed-site radar infrastructure.

Scout can be transported in a container-sized truck so it can be rapidly repositioned to emerging hotspots, LeoLabs CEO Tony Frazier said in an interview.

Developed with funding from a Small Business Innovation Research contract, the system aims to fill gaps in the U.S. military’s existing space-surveillance network, Frazier said.

“We’re also exploring ways it can be deployed on a maritime platform,” he said. “Scout can be positioned anywhere to address contingencies or monitor specific regions of low Earth orbit requiring enhanced surveillance.”

The introduction of a mobile radar marks a strategic push by LeoLabs to expand its defense footprint at a time when the U.S. is ramping up efforts to monitor Chinese and Russian space activities.

In December, the company unveiled an Ultra High Frequency (UHF) radar site in Arizona to track objects in low and very low Earth orbit, including advanced missile threats and hypersonic glide vehicles.

More recently, LeoLabs secured a $60 million public-private agreement, backed by the Small Business Innovation Research program and U.S. Space Command, to deploy a UHF radar site in the Indo-Pacific region by 2026.

Integrated global network

LeoLabs is integrating these new sensors with its existing network of phased array radars positioned globally in Australia, the Azores, Costa Rica, New Zealand and Texas.

Frazier said the company’s expansion addresses growing demand for surveillance capabilities as mega-constellations increasingly populate low Earth orbit and as military customers seek technologies to monitor increasingly sophisticated spacecraft.

“We’re seeing spacecraft that are aggressively maneuvering, and so in order to be able to detect that activity, and maintain custody of those objects, we’re proliferating our sensors,” Frazier said.

LeoLabs’ mobile radar system also supports missile-defense activities, enhancing its appeal to military customers, he said.

The company is currently testing its sensors’ capabilities to track hypersonic glide vehicles, which represent one of the most challenging missile threats to detect and intercept due to their maneuverability and speed.

Space Force missile-tracking “Foo Fighter” satellites clear design milestone

COLORADO SPRINGS — Eight satellites designed by Millennium Space Systems with sensor payloads from L3Harris Technologies have cleared a key design review, paving the way for production and a planned late 2027 launch, the companies announced April 7.

Millennium Space, based in El Segundo, California, is building the satellites under a $414 million contract awarded last year by the Space Development Agency for a constellation known as “Foo Fighter” — short for Fire-control On Orbit-support to the Warfighter.

The satellites will form part of the SDA’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture, an extensive constellation of low-Earth orbit satellites designed to provide continuous tracking, targeting and communications support for U.S. military operations.

The completion of this design review marks the transition to the production phase of the program,” said Tony Gingiss, CEO of Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing subsidiary.

The company plans to deliver the constellation of eight satellites with a ground system in 2026 and will handle mission operations once deployed in orbit.

Gingiss said in an interview that the recent design review for the Foo Fighter program is “a good waypoint for us to demonstrate successful execution. …

There is plenty of room to go, including the production, which always has its challenges,” he said.

Producing eight satellites of this complexity is a “pretty big run,” said Gingiss. “These are pretty sizable vehicles” even though they’re considered small satellites, he added.

Millennium Space is building a new 17,000 square-foot facility within the Boeing campus to support this program.

Missile defense capabilities

The Foo Fighter satellites are engineered to detect and precisely track sophisticated missile threats, including hypersonic weapons that can maneuver at extreme speeds and follow unpredictable flight paths.

What distinguishes these satellites is their “fire control quality sensors” — specialized equipment capable of providing the precise targeting data needed to intercept advanced missiles.

“The sensors are capable of high-fidelity tracking of targets and providing exact coordinates to weapon systems on the ground,” L3Harris said in a statement.

This level of accuracy aims to improve the success rate of missile intercepts, addressing a growing concern for U.S. defense planners.

L3Harris also announced that its infrared sensor payloads have completed a production readiness review.

The company will manufacture these components at its facility in Wilmington, Massachusetts, where it recently invested $10 million to expand manufacturing capacity.

Expanding capacity

Charles Clarkson, vice president and general manager of L3Harris’ space superiority and imaging division, noted that company is investing an additional $200 million to increase capacity and upgrade infrastructure at facilities in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Palm Bay, Florida.

These investments anticipate future orders for missile warning and defense sensors as the Department of Defense prioritizes countering advanced missile threats from near-peer competitors, he added.

The company expects the Foo Fighter program to become a central element of the “Golden Dome” initiative, a project directed by the Trump administration to strengthen U.S. defenses against next-generation missile systems.

While still in early stages, Golden Dome has become a guiding framework for integrating space-based tracking and interception into the nation’s larger missile-defense architecture.

A disheartening number of people in general, but notably more on the left side of the political spectrum, are embracing an "assassination culture" that suggests there is justification for violence against political opponents, a new study finds.

Not that a study was necessary based on the number of Tesla dealership firebombings and as actual attempts on President Trump's life have borne out.

That said, Rutgers University’s Network Contagion Research Institute, or NCRI, has just released a report indicating that "violence targeting Donald Trump and Elon Musk is becoming increasingly normalized."

The numbers coming out of the NCRI study are shocking and, quite frankly, not a good reflection on humanity as a whole. Those feeling the outright murders of President Trump and DOGE Chief Elon Musk are acceptable have surged on the left.

Thirty-one percent of respondents feel taking out Musk is at least "somewhat justified," while another 38 percent feel the same about the President.

Those overall numbers are unacceptably high. And they are being bolstered by an ideology on the left that seems perfectly content to see people they oppose politically being removed from the conversation.

Among left-leaning respondents, those finding justification for the outright murder of Musk and Trump rise significantly - 48 and 55 percent, respectively.

The study goes on to reveal that 40 percent of those surveyed feel violence against Tesla dealerships is an acceptable form of protest, with that number shooting up to 58 percent for those on the left side of the aisle.

The organization also points out that these calls for violence and promulgation of extreme ideology are rampant on the social media platform Bluesky, the preferred choice of progressives.

Mysterious Mars structures discovered by NASA 'prove there was life on the Red Planet'

The surface of Mars looks like an empty red wasteland. But if you look a bit closer, the remnants of an ancient alien civilization begin to take shape.

At least, that's the conclusion of George J. Haas, the founder and premier investigator of the Mars research group known as The Cydonia Institute.

In his new book, 'The Great Architects of Mars,' Haas analyzed dozens of photos of structures on the Martian surface that he is sure are man-made.

Those include pyramids, a keyhole-shaped formation and even one that looks like a parrot.

According to the author, these formations may be the remnants of once-magnificent cities, towering pyramids, gigantic geoglyphs and more.

Geometry, Haas said, is the marker of civilization. He has spent more than 30 years meticulously studying NASA images of the Martian surface to look for geometric features and patterns that can't be explained by nature alone.

As a formally trained artist, Haas has an eye for deciphering the subtle differences between a natural formation and an object that was intentionally crafted.

'You don't have to be a geologist to know the difference between a rock and a sculpture — something that's geometric,' he told DailyMail.com.

However, scientists have said Haas' claims are a result of 'pareidolia,' a common brain phenomenon in which a person sees faces in random images or patterns.

'Sometimes we see faces that aren't really there,' explained Robin Kramer, Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology, at University of Lincoln, in an article for The Conversation.

'You may be looking at the front of a car or a burnt piece of toast when you notice a face-like pattern. 'This is called face pareidolia and is a mistake made by the brain's face detection system.'

Even so, Haas is sure that the structures in the images prove there is life on Mars.

1. The keyhole

In 2011, NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) spacecraft snapped a photo of a bizarre formation on the surface of Libya Montes, an area of high-elevation on Mars.

The raised structure consists of two main parts: a wedge-shaped formation and an attached circular dome. Together, they resemble an enormous exclamation mark.

'Traditionally, the basic shape of a conjoined wedge and dome formation are commonly referred to as a keyhole,' Haas wrote.

In 2013, the 'exquisite' geometry of this strange landform captured his attention.

Three years later, Haas and several colleagues published a formal analysis of the keyhole in the Journal of Space Exploration, concluding that its geometry and symmetry suggest it could have been intelligently built.

Without considering that possibility, 'there's no way you can explain that keyhole formation,' Haas said.

'While there are known geological mechanisms that are capable of creating and destroying the individual angles and planes presented in this formation, the natural creation of two opposing geometrically designed formations seems to go well beyond the probability of chance,' the author explained.

Haas also pointed out the keyhole's similarity to monuments constructed by New World, Middle Eastern, and Japanese cultures, such as the Kofun Tomb in Japan.

Kremlin responds to Kiev’s claim of civilian casualties in Krivoy Rog strike

The Russian military does not strike civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

Peskov’s comment followed claims by Kiev that 18 civilians were killed, including nine children, and 56 others were wounded in a Russian attack on the city of Krivoy Rog in central Ukraine on Friday.

The spokesman was asked by journalists on Monday if it was possible that “there was a mistake on the Russian side, that maybe the intelligence was not accurate” ahead of the strikes.

Peskov replied by saying, “we should rely entirely on the statement of our Defense Ministry,” adding: “Our military strikes exclusively military and military-related targets. No strikes are carried out on social infrastructure facilities.”

The Defense Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that it hit “a meeting place of commanders of [Ukrainian] military units and Western instructors in one of the restaurants” in Krivoy Rog.

Up to 85 Ukrainian and foreign troops and officers were killed, and up to 20 vehicles were damaged in the strike, according to the statement.

On Monday, the Defense Ministry said Ukraine was continuing its violations of a 30-day truce on attacks against energy infrastructure.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, agreed to the pause during a phone call on March 18. Later, Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky also agreed to the pause.

Within the past 24 hours alone, Ukrainian forces have used drones and artillery to target six energy facilities in the Russian regions of Voronezh, Bryansk, Kherson, and the Donetsk People’s Republic, causing damage to infrastructure and disrupting the electricity supply for some customers, it said.

Putin supports Ukraine ceasefire – Kremlin

Russia is open to discussing a full ceasefire to end the Ukraine conflict, but for this to happen, there must be guarantees that Kiev will abide by it, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Peskov responded to comments by US President Donald Trump, who said he “would like them [Russia] to stop” their attacks on Ukraine.

“I don’t like the bombing, the bombing goes on and on, and every week, thousands of young people are being killed,” Trump said.

Peskov stressed that Russian President Vladimir Putin “supports the idea of the need for a ceasefire,” but first, certain conditions must be met.

“A whole series of questions needs to be answered… This is related to the lack of control over the Kiev regime and the inability of the Kiev regime to control the actions of a number of extremist and nationalist units that simply do not obey it,” he explained.

Another major issue is linked to Ukraine’s plans for further militarization, Peskov said. “All these aspects are still on the agenda.

While we are in solidarity with the idea of establishing a ceasefire as soon as possible, we have to secure our interests and clarify these very aspects that I have just spoken about.”

Last month, following a phone call with US President Donald Trump, Putin agreed to a 30-day moratorium on strikes targeting energy infrastructure, with Ukraine also signing off on the proposal.

Moscow, however, has accused Kiev of repeatedly violating the agreement, but said it will honor it anyway, arguing that the deal in itself is a sign of improving relations with the US.

At the same time, Russian officials have not ruled out symmetrical retaliation against Kiev for the energy strikes.

Department of Corrections investigating drone crash near Smith State Prison

TATTNALL COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – The Department of Corrections is investigating a drone crash that occurred in Glennville on March 25, 2025.

While out on patrol, an officer with the Glennville Police Department (GPD) responded to 505 South Herrington Street following reports of a fire.

Upon arrival, the officer found a front portion of the house damaged due to fire.

The officer was then shown an object, later identified as a drone, lying near the base of the house that is believed to be what originally caused the fire.

These types of drones had been used in the past to get contraband into nearby Smith State Prison. Upon further investigation, the officer found loose tobacco, marijuana and a cell phone next to the drone.

It was determined that the drone had come from the Auburn Road area of Tattnall County, which is southeast of the house.

The officer then contacted the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) at the Department of Corrections. The SAC sent an investigator to the scene to collect any evidence that might help them determine who was flying the drone.

The case has officially been turned over to the Department of Corrections investigation team. This is an ongoing story. Stay with WSAV News 3 for all the updated details as they are made available.
