GOP Sen. Ted Cruz is asking the Justice Department to search President Joe Biden’s records from the time he was a senator and that have been stored at the University of Delaware to see whether they contain more classified documents.
An FBI search of Biden's home Friday found classified documents from his time as vice president and senator, marking the fifth time classified materials have been discovered in his possession since November.
On an episode released Monday of his podcast, "Verdict with Ted Cruz," the senator said the "next step in this scandal" will be finding "how many more classified documents are illegally in his Senate papers."
>>He also said: "The University of Delaware has more than 1,850 boxes of records from Joe Biden’s Senate tenure which he gave to the university."
Cruz said the university "presumably" does not store the documents in a secure location.
The media attempted to obtain those documents when allegations of sexual harassment were raised against Biden during the 2020 presidential election, but the university denied the request, stating that the release will happen two years after Biden retires from being a public figure, Cruz said.
>>"I am right now calling for the Department of Justice, for the FBI to examine all 1,850 boxes of those Senate records to see how many additional classified documents are in those records," Cruz also said. "The answer should be none."
