Clark County School District responded to the suit this week by claiming that the parents who filed the suit used “hyperbole and incendiary language” in their pleadings, “demoniz[ing]” the “good faith efforts” by the school district to address their concerns.

The lawsuit, filed by Candra and Terrell Evans, claims their daughter “C.E.” was forced to “perform obscene, sexual activity as a class assignment.” The filing accuses the daughter’s teacher of “unlawful grooming and abuse of a minor student.”

The assignment that launched the lawsuit directed students to write their own personal monologues, after which students would randomly select a fellow classmate’s monologue to read aloud.
