Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she takes pride in how President Trump has cast her as a villain.
In an interview with Jane Fonda, the New York Democrat said Trump's disdain for her is a positive thing, given the two's nearly polar opposite approaches to governing.
"I consider it a little badge of honor," Ocasio-Cortez said. "If the worst and most authoritarian borderline or probably actually fascistic president in modern history considers me public enemy No. 1, I think that's a good thing. I'm doing a great job."
Ocasio-Cortez is a favorite target among conservative pundits, Republicans, and Trump over what they view as her radical liberal ideas. Trump took aim at her ambitious proposals to combat climate change in the final debate on Thursday, arguing that the freshman congresswoman doesn't know anything about the climate.
“If you look at his plan, his environmental plan, you know who developed it?” Trump said. “AOC plus three. They know nothing about the climate," he added, referring to the "Squad" of liberal freshman congresswoman that are rounded out by Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley.
The New York Democrat was elected in 2018 after a nationally recognized upset over 10-term incumbent Democrat Joe Crawley in the primary.
