Rioters toppled statues of Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt in Portland, Oregon, on Sunday night — the latest attacks on monuments in several months of left-wing unrest.

According to OregonLive.com, the statues in the South Park Block were toppled during an “Indigenous Day of Rage.” The nearby Oregon Historical Society Museum was also reportedly attacked.

Video of the toppled statues showed they had been vandalized with the words “STOLEN LAND” spray-painted on their bases. The Roosevelt statue was also vandalized with “MURDERER.”

Portland Police had warned those attempting to topple statues.

OregonLive.com reported:

As the crowd gathered, a group threw chains on ropes on the statue, a bronze sculpture officially titled “Theodore Roosevelt, Rough Rider,” as others took a blowtorch to its base and threw red paint on the statue. They began to pull until the statue rocked from side to side before falling down at 8:51 p.m.

The group then turned to the nearby Abraham Lincoln statue, pulling it to the ground at 8:59 p.m. Spray-painted on the base of the statue was “Dakota 38,” a reference to 38 Dakota men executed after the Dakota-U.S. War of 1862, the largest mass execution in a single day in American history.

Afterward, people in the crowd began smashing windows at the Oregon Historical Society, unfurling a banner that read, “Stop honoring racist colonizer murderers.” A mural on the attached Sovereign Hotel building depicting the Lewis & Clark expedition was splattered with red paint.

The crowd then moved through downtown, breaking windows and destroying a sign at the Portland State University Campus Public Safety office and other buildings.

Police did not apparently intervene in time to save the statues or protect the museum.

"Dakota 38". Let's put a little factual history to a typical bullshit call out by the left:

…"But before looking at the factors that led to Lincoln’s execution order, what actually happened during late August, 1862 to cause the Conflict?

The Dakota were living in dire hardship. Treaty obligated supplies had not arrived and would in any event be withheld by the Indian Agent until he could be properly paid for distribution. The supplies did arrive but too late before violence commenced. Andrew Jackson Myrick, a local merchant, is repudiated to have said, “So far as I am concerned, if they are hungry let them eat grass or their own dung.” There is no reason to think he did not say these words, although the context and circumstance is not clear, but one thing that is clear, is Little Crow thought he said them, and cited them as a reason for the Dakota anger. When violence broke out, it did not go well for the settlers. At least three towns were encircled and pretty much wiped out to a man, this included graphic descriptions of the death of women and children, in one case a pregnant woman cut open, and her baby nailed alive to a tree. New Ulm was twice laid to siege, many parts of the town burned.

Three battles were fought in those opening days between the Dakota and the Minnesota militia, and they did not go well for the militia. Only when overwhelming force arrived were the Lakota, hunkered down in a ravine, attacked and overwhelmed. The death estimates are spotty, but it seems just over a hundred Dakota died, and 177 soldiers, and between *600-800* settlers, and what isn’t understood by those who were not there, separated by over a century of history, is the terror that permeated that land, both for the Dakota and the settlers, but that terror is graphically present in the writings of those who participated on bth sides."

I will personally fund them putting the statues back up or the creation of new ones. I have contacted the local council but so far only an intern has responded.
