President Donald Trump sold himself to Americans in 2016 as the ultimate deal-maker. But as he runs for re-election — amid talks that represent one of his final shots at a significant response to what may be the biggest crisis of his presidency — he has notably embraced a very different role: that of interested bystander.
Following a well-established pattern, the president has largely stayed removed from negotiations over a new coronavirus relief bill that would resume federal unemployment benefits and protect millions of people from eviction, White House officials said.

CEOs of corporations make bad presidents I guess. They never had to deal with naysayers much less liberal whackjobs out for blood every single day, opposing everything he said and did.
He couldn't handle it. He couldn't handle a worldwide pandemic because he was too focused getting even with China. Should've tried to control the epidemic back home, reached out to Taiwan's CDC for help and gave China the iron-fist-in-a-velvet-glove treatment while silently making plans to deal with them after the disease.
